§ 10-1. Description.

  • The village cemetery shall consist of the following lands:

    (1)

    All of that piece, parcel or tract of land specified in the following descriptions, which are taken from certified copies of two certain warranty deeds from Eleazer Kelley, Sr., to the Walnut Cemetery Association:

    a.

    Beginning at a point south 31 degrees east, 21 chains and 76 links from the northwest corner of the southwest quarter of Section 8 in Township 18 North of the base line and Range 8 East of the fourth principal meridian, thence south 24 rods, thence east 20 rods, thence north 24 rods, thence west ten rods, 6½ feet, thence south four rods and two feet, thence west six rods, thence north four rods and two feet, thence west three rods and ten feet to the place of beginning, containing 2½ acres, more or less.

    b.

    Beginning at the northeast corner of the Old Cemetery (described in subsection (1)a of this section), thence south along the east side of said Old Cemetery 24 rods, thence west along the south line of the cemetery 15 rods and 14½ feet, thence south six rods and 8½ feet, thence east 22 rods and 14½ feet, thence 30 rods and 8½ feet north, thence west seven rods to the place of beginning, containing 1.98 acres, more or less, and situated in Section 8, in Township 18 North and Range 8 East of the fourth principal meridian, and all situated in the County of Bureau and State of Illinois.

    (2)

    Also another tract, piece or parcel of land known as the New Cemetery, lying north and across the public highway from the Old Cemetery, and described as follows: Beginning at the northwest corner of the cemetery 1,835.5 feet north and 778.3 feet east of the southwest corner of the southwest quarter of Section 8, Township 18 North, Range 8 East, of the fourth principal meridian, thence east 446 feet, thence south 440 feet, thence west 388 feet, thence north 62 degrees and 45 minutes, west 65.3 feet, thence north 410 feet to the place of beginning, containing 4½ acres, more or less.

    (3)

    Another tract, piece or parcel of land known as the Lamb Addition, lying at the southwest corner of the southwest quarter of Section 8, Township 18 North, Range 8 East of the 4th P.M., Bureau County, Illinois, running thence North along the West line of said quarter section a distance of 1,942.3 feet, more or less, to the intersection with the south right-of-way line of the public highway for a point of beginning; thence southeasterly, approximately 55 degrees 1 minute 0 seconds east, along the south right-of-way line of said public street a distance of 954 feet, more or less, to the west line of the Old Walnut Cemetery; thence south along said west line of the Old Walnut Cemetery, a distance of 429 feet, more or less; thence northwesterly along a line parallel with the aforesaid south right-of-way line of the public highway, being approximately north 55 degrees 1 minute 0 seconds west, a distance of approximately 954 feet; thence north along the west line of said southwest quarter of Section 8 approximately 429 feet to the point of beginning, containing 7.7 acres, more or less.
